The FAU Competence Center Research Data and Information (FAU CDI) is supporting the Volp Cave Project in contextualizing Paleolithic rock art using WissKI
The annual CAA conference took place in Vienna from March 31 to April 4, 2026. The FAU CDI was represented by Yasaman Piroozfar (FAU CDI) and Laura Albers (FAU CDI) as part of the Volp Project. In a presentation, Laura Albers introduced the data model for recording human footprints using CIDOC CRM, CRM sci, and CRM archaeo. Yasaman Piroozfar presented a poster demonstrating what a workflow for synchronizing auditory, visual, and text-based data might look like—in this case, the documented track analysis by Namibian trackers in the Aldène Cave.
The diverse and highly versatile approaches to applying technical solutions to archaeological questions led to an exciting conference and a fruitful exchange of ideas.
