This page provides the entry point to the overview of FAU’s data storage options. More advanced services, such as semantic databases or electronic lab notebooks, are presented separately on their respective pages and are therefore not part of the overview.
First, data are distinguished by their origin or use. In some cases, data can be assigned to several types (e.g., presentations); please make a decision (for yourself or within the relevant group). This helps avoid storing data multiple times (potentially in different versions).
- Storage on your personal computer PLUS backup via your personal FAUbox or your personal network drive
- Storage on your personal network drive (“Home”) – without a local copy
Personal data includes your emails, administrative forms, mind maps, presentations, and similar files.
- Documents and materials related to lectures, seminars, tutorials, etc.
- Store them on your personal computer plus back them up using your personal FAUbox or personal network storage.
- Store them in your personal network storage (“Home”) – without keeping a local copy.
- Store them in the network storage provided by your organisational unit.
